Guten Tag,
heute wurde auf der Homepage von European Trophy über die Zukunft dieser Wettbewerb berichtet:
ZitatAlles anzeigenThe European Trophy 2013 Kick Off Meeting takes place today and tomorrow in Prague. 50 days before the first European Trophy game in 2013 representatives of all 32 clubs came together to talk about this year’s tournament, the European Trophy Finals 2013 and the future of European club ice hockey.
“We are proud to host this meeting in our beautiful city for the first time”, says Petr Briza, Czech goalkeeper legend and Chairman of the board of HC Sparta Praha.
Bo Lennartsson, tournament director: “We will again have a great competition this year and I can already feel the teams will be fighting for a spot on the road to Berlin. I am really looking forward to watch the games in August and the Red Bulls Salute 2013 in December in Berlin!”
Timo Everi, member of the European Trophy Board comments on the future of European club ice hockey: “We are very happy that we came together with the IIHF, the European Leagues represented by Hockey Europe and work together now. It looks like everybody shares our vision on how to develop the best club competition for as many teams as possible.”
Anders Ternbom, member of the European Trophy Board, specified the ideas for 2014/15: "We will form a company with the clubs, leagues and the IIHF as shareholders. We want to play with 40 teams in 2014/15 in 10 groups, 3 home and 3 away games. Next round would be consisting out of 16 teams and there is a Final Four planned."
Not only representatives of the 32 clubs came to the Kick Off Meeting in Prague but also Horst Lichtner, General Secretary of the IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation), Szymon Szemberg, Communications Director of the IIHF and Gernot Tripcke (General Manager of the Germany’s elite league DEL) and Christian Feichtinger (General Manager of the Erste Bank Eishockey League) as representatives of Hockey Europe and the leagues.

Eigentlich eine gute Idee für eine Club-Wettbewerb, aber bringt das nicht mehr Belastung für die Spieler mit sich? Vor allem wegen die Termine der Spiele der Nationalmannschaften.
